In case you missed it, the late John Hendrickson made plans to gift the profits of the 36,600-acre Whitney Park, currently listed at $180 million, to the town of Long Lake. The Whitney property is one of the last major private inholdings in the Adirondack Park and is one of the original parcels the state had on its list of desirable land acquisitions for the Forest Preserve.

Adirondack Park to host state’s first “Build-Ready” projectBy Gwendolyn CraigThe New York State Energy Research and Development Authority selected renewable energy developer CleanCapital to erect the state’s first “Build-Ready” solar facility on a former mine in the Adirondack Park. The 12-megawatt project is expected to generate enough power for 3,000 homes annually. CleanCapital will build it on the former Benson Mines in St. Lawrence County.
