Her husband, Jean Carlos, had come Monday morning for a hearing in his asylum case, and Jessica, feeling a growing sense of unease, had decided to accompany him. The two exchanged WhatsApp messages throughout the morning while Jessica waited outside in a nearby park.

THE CITY witnessed Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers shuttling at least 16 people out of a nondescript office building where people in deportation proceedings are required to report to a private contractor working with the agency.

THE CITY witnessed seven arrests throughout the morning Thursday, which followed another seven arrests yesterday at an immigration courthouse across the street at 26 Federal Plaza.

    Federal agents inside of a Manhattan immigration court building on Wednesday made numerous arrests of migrants and observers including a pastor from Queens.  A reporter for THE CITY witnessed around two dozen masked officers, dressed in plainclothes, staking out the lobby of 26 Federal Plaza, where immigrants go for check-ins with ICE as well as court dates with USCIS,  on Wednesday afternoon.
