    RENO, Ohio (WTAP) - A member of the Reno Volunteer Fire Department went to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial the first weekend in May 2025 in honor of one of their own. Dan Ritchey was a fireman for 41 years at the Reno VFD. He followed in the footsteps of his father and joined the department as a Junior Fireman when his dad was the Assistant Chief. Dan was well-loved in this community.

    VINCENT, Ohio (WTAP) - Warren Local Schools District passed its Renewal Levy for approximately $1.7 million during the 2025 Ohio Primary Election. This levy was created and has been trying to pass for the last 10 years. The $1.7 million will go toward operational usage in the schools. Superintendent Kyle Newton says this levy will go toward keeping the lights on and paying the bills. With this levy passing, it will continue to allow Warren Local Schools to keep up with everything they are doing.

    BELPRE, Ohio (WTAP) - Belpre City Schools has been trying to get a Bond Issue and Tax Levy passed since December of 2021. During the Ohio Primary Election on May 6, the unofficial results show that the bond and levy passed. This passing will help construct the new middle/high school for the district.

    WHIPPLE, Ohio (WTAP) - DAV Pioneer City Chapter 52 swore in new leadership for 2025 through 2026. Chapter Commander Jim Crawford conducted the ceremony, formally swearing in five new leaders. All five men are disabled veterans who have made a commitment to lead, uplift, and advocate for their brothers and sisters in arms. The purpose of this ceremony was to ensure that no disabled veteran is left behind and every voice is heard under these new leaders.

    PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The Children’s Home Society of West Virginia, in the heart of Worthington, had its ribbon cutting at the Old Worthington Elementary School building. The CHSWV was founded in 1896, and they are a place that offers many services to children in the foster care system and to many families. The mission of the CHSWV is to promote the well-being of children.
