    HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) – One of the two Hermitage Sheetz locations is temporarily closed for renovations. The work started earlier this week. This store is located at the intersection of North Hermitage Road and Dutch Lane. So far, the gas pumps have been taken out, and crews have been removing the canopy. Sheetz Public Affairs Manager Nick Ruffner said the store is expected to reopen in late summer. Sheetz’s store along North Hermitage Road closed this past Sunday, April 6 for a rebuild to begin.

The Primary Health Network’s new Gun Locks Program aims to enhance gun safety within households but also addresses a bigger issue: the rise in veteran suicide rates. PHN says the Veterans Affairs office donated the gun locks to provide to people in the Shenango Valley at no cost.

    (WKBN) — The National Weather Service announced it had to pause its experimental program that translated weather alerts to non-English speaking individuals. The weather service has “paused” the translations because its contract with the provider has lapsed, NWS spokesperson Michael Musher said. There were translations in 5 other languages, including Spanish, Chinese, French, Samoan, and Vietnamese. This comes after the agency has already faced several cuts to staff and services.

    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — 300 Sisters in Red celebrated 20 years in the Mahoning Valley on Saturday. The initiative promotes education and awareness of health disparities in the local communities, especially women’s heart health. Each year, the Youngstown Chapter of the Links hosts an event to talk about the initiative and provide resources to women who may not otherwise have access. Dozens gathered for the event Saturday at Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.
