Jun. 23—Prospective homebuyers anxiously awaiting a significant price drop are going to have to wait a little longer. Maine home prices reached a new record high last month. Maine homebuyers paid a median of $425,000 in May, a 6.5% increase over the same month last year, according to data released Monday by the Maine Association of Realtors. The median is the price at which half of the homes sold for more and half sold for less.

The Maine Trust is the parent company of the Portland Press Herald, Sun Journal in Lewiston, Kennebec Journal in Augusta, Morning Sentinel in Waterville, Times Record in Brunswick and more than a dozen southern and western Maine online publications and newsletters.

Today, those intoxicating, yet alcohol-free beverages can be found in 850 locations across 10 states. Lamphere's company, the Farmington-based Long Coast, is part of a rapidly expanding market of drinks containing low doses of the psychoactive compound that gets cannabis users high.

Jun. 12—Lawmakers on Wednesday passed a bill to give mobile home residents the "right of first refusal" when their parks go up for sale, but it won't go into effect quickly enough to benefit Friendly Village, a large park in Gorham awaiting a decision on its multi-million offer. The bill, LD 1145, was enacted in both the state Senate and House of Representatives this week and now awaits a signature from Gov. Janet Mills.

Maine’s medical cannabis providers have once again fought off a controversial requirement to start testing their products — at least for now. A legislative committee killed one bill and carried over another that would have instituted testing and tracking requirements that industry members have said for years would put them out of business or force price increases.
