Amazon deliveries in the Mankato area might get a little faster. A new 60,000 square-foot delivery hub is being built in North Mankato’s North Port Industrial Center. The project is expected to open in December. It’s anticipated to bring about 75 new jobs into the area. Mark Fischer, North Mankato’s director of community development, said Ryan Companies, which represented Amazon, approached the city about nine months ago about purchasing land for the project.

Hundreds of meatpacking workers marched in shifts outside of the JBS Foods plant in Worthington throughout Thursday afternoon and into the early evening. They touted signs and demanded safer work conditions at the pork plant. “This march that we had today, this was the first march outside of the JBS plant in over a decade,” said Ruth Schultz, meatpacking director of the Local UFCW 663.

KANDIYOHI COUNTY, Minn. — When 33-year-old Aditya Harsono went to work as usual in late March, he didn’t know that he would be getting arrested by federal authorities. “They just put handcuffs on me, saying that ‘You’re under arrest,’ ” the Marshall man told MPR News over the phone from the Kandiyohi County Jail. “I was like, ‘OK, but can you tell me why?’ They say, ‘Yeah, your visa got revoked.’ ” Through the confusion, Harsono started piecing together what happened.
