MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - A major update to Riverfront Drive in Mankato is on its way and tonight, impacted residents and business owners have a chance to learn more. Mankato city staff will be on hand at a “neighborhood meeting” Thursday at 1:30. Anybody residing or conducting business between Third Avenue and Main Street on Riverfront Drive is invited to attend. Engineers aim to have a discussion around the timeline of the project, which does not have an anticipated start date yet.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - A World War II veteran from Stillwater, Minnesota has been accounted for, decades after his death during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The United States Defense P.O.W/M.I.A Accounting Agency, or D.P.A.A, says Navy Fire Controlman 3rd class William F. Gusie was one of 429 crewmen killed on the U.S.S Oklahoma on December 7, 1941. Gusie was 19 years old at the time of his death and had been declared “non-recoverable” in 1949 as recovery efforts continued years after the attack.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - March was a month of job growth for the state of Minnesota. According to data released this morning from the Department of Employment and Economic Development, 11,000 jobs were gained with 3,000 workers joining the labor force last month. The Mankato Metropolitan Statistical Area saw modest gains in March, with a 0.3% job growth from February. In the last year, the Mankato MSA has grown in all industry sectors, with the highest gain in government jobs at a 1.7% increase.
