The first Aldi in Adams County now has its opening date set for later this month, and its first 100 customers are set to receive Aldi swag and "golden tickets."Located in a new shopping center and residential development, the Reserve at Rock Creek, at 1115 York Road in Straban Township, the Aldi grocery store will be opening at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025, according to a release from Aldi. A ribbon cutting will be held at 9 a.m., followed by the opening of the doors for its first customers.

After three decades of being Penn Township's municipal trash disposal system, "pay-as-you-throw" too is headed for the trash. Starting in 2026, Penn Township residents will no longer be required to pay per bag for trash disposal services, according to Penn Township officials, thanks to a new trash contract that has been signed by the township.

Sky watchers in the York and Adams county area were treated to a special view on Monday afternoon, with a rare glimpse of one of only two operational B-29 Superfortress bombers while it transited the area at low altitude. Doc, N69972, one of just two B-29 bombers that remain in flying condition left in the world, was seen passing over Hanover around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at a height of just 5,000 feet above the ground, according to flight records.
