No one was injured when a sailboat became stranded on an island in Lake Marburg on Friday afternoon, officials said. Firefighters had been called for a boat in distress in the area of the park's sailboat launch in the Heidelberg Township portion of Codorus State Park around 12:26 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, according to York County 911 records.

Hanover's annual Fourth of July fireworks spectacle is set to return largely unaffected by recent construction, officials said. The show, which is launched from a field on the far northern edge of Hanover along Wilson Avenue, will return this year in the same spot, borough manager Margie Lewis confirmed. Hanover's Independence Day fireworks show will kick off from Wilson Avenue at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4th, 2025.

A large influx of rain in recent weeks has led to the temporary closure of a popular swimming spot in south-central Pennsylvania, officials said. The swimming beach of Laurel Lake, located in Pine Grove Furnace State Park just outside of Adams County in Cumberland County's Cooke Township, was closed on Wednesday June 18, 2025, until further notice, officials said in an advisory.
