OAKLAND — A man was fatally shot in the Bartlett area Monday morning, authorities said. The name, age and residence of the victim have not been released. The shooting happened about 7:12 a.m. Monday in the 3300 block of Arkansas Street, which is just south of Interstate 580 and west of 35th Avenue. The man was found with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A motive for the shooting is under investigation.

The suspect, Ricardo Gonzalez Ruiz, 33, who was booked at Santa Rita Jail on Tuesday after a lengthy hospital stay, was charged April 18 with 17 felony counts resulting from the April 13 confrontation. They include one count of assault with a deadly weapon likely to cause great bodily injury on a peace officer, 12 counts of exhibiting a firearm in the presence of an officer, and four counts of unlawful firearm activity. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
