    Clarno, Ore. – Wildland fire crews responded to a 300-acre fire in north-Central Oregon Sunday, attacking the flames from both the ground and air. Wheeler County Fire and Rescue and interagency fire crews are in the area nine miles north of Clarno. Helicopters pulled water from the John Day River Monday, as the Butte Creek Fire grew to around 2,000 acres. Early Monday reports indicated it was 3,000 acres, but officials say more accurate mapping puts it at about 1,776 acres.

    A state law enforcement committee, the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, unanimously voted to strip Deschutes County Sheriff Kent van der Kamp of his certification - for life.  As Heather Roberts reports, it comes just days after he was expelled from the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association.

    Silverton, Ore. – A Utah man was seriously hurt after he jumped from the top of a Salem-area waterfall. Marion County Search and Rescue and Silverton Fire responded Sunday evening to Abiqua Falls, after the 22-year-old jumped from the 90-foot height. They navigated heavily wooded terrain to reach the patient, transporting him via ATV to a LifeFlight helicopter. He’s now recovering at an unnamed trauma center.

    Portland, Ore. – Portland Police are searching for a missing 81-year-old woman and ask for the public’s help. Joan Ivan (pictured, left) left her North Portland home near Dawson Park sometime between Friday afternoon and Monday morning. Joan has dementia and is known to frequent the park and nearby New Seasons. She’s white, 5’5″ tall, 110 pounds, and wears glasses. While it’s unclear what she’s wearing, she was last seen in a long sleeve shirt, Columbia rain jacket and black and white leggings.

Photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Clark Cannon Beach, Ore. – The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a boat that reportedly sank two miles off the coast of Cannon Beach Thursday evening. Officials say four to five flares were spotted from shore and a Coast Guard crew located apparent debris in the water. Anyone with information helpful for searchers should call the Sector Columbia River Command Center at 833-769-8724. More about:
