Neskowin, Ore. – Law enforcement from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is investigating the stabbing of a seal pup on the Oregon coast. Salem, Ore. – Oregon fire officials are ramping up hiring in advance of what’s expected to be another busy wildfire season. “Fire season has begun,” Governor Tina Kotek said Wednesday, noting multiple escaped debris burns around Oregon already this spring. She received a briefing Wednesday from various state agencies involved in wildfire preparedness and suppression, including the Department of Forestry, Emergency Management and the Fire Marshal’s Office.
