James Dowdy was released from the hospital Monday and arrested for Manslaughter, Assault, Driving Under the Influence, Driving While Suspended and other charges. The 32-year-old Coos Bay man is now in the Coos County Jail.

    Salem, Ore. – Oregon State Senator Aaron Woods (D-Wilsonville) passed away at the age of 75 Saturday, surrounded by his family. Senate President Rob Wagner (D-Lake Oswego) announced the death Monday, remembering Woods for his wisdom, service and kindness, “Aaron had a deep heart for public service. He loved being in the Senate and loved working on behalf of the people in his community. He brought a unique and important perspective to our work, and he was a kind and trusted friend.

    Bend, Ore, – An alleged drunk driver took himself to jail in Bend, over the weekend. State Police arrested 38-year-old Thomas Lee Downs after they say he drove through the gate of the secured parking lot at the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office late Saturday night. Investigators say it appears the pickup was speeding when it hit the gate and crashed into a block wall, causing around $80,000 in damage. Downs is charged with DUII, violating parole and other crimes.
