FAYETTEVILLE -- Kercher Herring had yet to complete the triple jump Thursday evening when he began to hear the voices from those who wanted him to break the points record at the state high school decathlon. They began to tell the Russellville senior what his 1,500-meter time needed to be to accomplish the feat. While Herring's heart and mind were willing , his legs just didn't have the energy to do it.
