LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas softball team is planting their roots in the valley by showing their love for the game and sharing a piece of their home of the Guam islands with the community. “Island Rootz is different compared to everybody else. We’re one of a kind, we’re chill and laid back, just like the people of Guam,” Edward Perez said. Creating Island Rootz helped maintain that island connection for those involved. “It all started with this man right here, Mr. Jay Conway,” Perez explained.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — When you hear the beat of the Taiko drum, you can hear the sound of teamwork and synchronization, all making for a high-energy performance while telling a unique story. Gene Sugano from Korabo Taiko knows the tradition and history behind the Japanese art form. “Taiko is a Japanese art form, the word itself means drum, which dates back thousands of years to Chinese culture. Then the Japanese adapted it to their own culture,” Sugano said.

Now one local family is sharing their culture and love for food with the Las Vegas community. “Tunu means to barbecue and Fixx is our last name Flores and all of our kids’ names, first names put together,” Tunu Fixx food truck owner Yolanda Flores said. LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Students and staff at Marion Earl Elementary School in Spring Valley made a special delivery, helping those in need. The school donated canned goods to the Christ the King Catholic Church food pantry as part of a program to give back to the community.
