MOUNT AIRY, N.C. (WGHP) — The Surry County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public after multiple reports of an aggressive fox. According to a press release, on Sunday, the SCSO received multiple reports of a “fox exhibiting aggressive behavior” in the area of the White Pines Country Club. The SCSO reports multiple human exposures related to the animal. Animal Control is actively investigating and attempting to locate the fox, but at this time, it has not been captured or confirmed.

MEBANE, N.C. (WGHP) — A 3-year-old died Wednesday night after an accidental shooting in a car, according Mebane police said. Around 7:55 p.m. on Wednesday night, Mebane officers came to the intersection of West Lee Street and South First Street after getting a report of shots fired. At the scene, police found the child inside a car with a critical injury and a gun. Investigators said that the gun went off accidentally inside the car. The 3-year-old was taken to the hospital.

ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Drivers are worried after another crash happened at what they refer to as a “hotspot” in Asheboro on Tuesday night. A deputy’s car was smashed in a crash with a car that was part of ongoing traffic. No injuries have been reported. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said this was a random crash between the deputy and the other vehicle. The crash happened at the intersection of Loflin Pond Road and Highway 64.
