A Bridge of Allan sports massage clinic has announced its closure. Death’s Door on Henderson Street will shut on May 6. However, owners Lauren Rees and James Bremner say they are looking for a new location in Bridge of Allan. In a social media post, the pair said they “love the community and growing support” in the spa town. The original Death’s Door location in Auchterarder will remain open, with therapists from Bridge of Allan clinic working from the Perthshire town instead.

Plans to convert a well-known restaurant in Stirling into a veterinary surgery have been given the go-ahead. Under the proposals, the building currently housing The Hollybank in St Ninians would be partially demolished and altered for the new business. The application was submitted by Lawrie Orr Chartered Architect on behalf of W S Dunsire & Sons in November 2024.

The former West End Bar in Stirling city centre has been demolished. The Lower Bridge Street eyesore was razed by contractors on Wednesday (April 16). Plans to replace the building with student flats are currently being considered by Stirling Council. The former pub, which most recently traded as Jackie’s Bar and O’Shaughnessy’s Bar, has been boarded up for several years. An application requesting to knock the eyesore building down was submitted by PCM Property Investment in July 2024.

Doune and Dunblane Cricket Club could be on a sticky wicket after Stirling Council has ended a casual arrangement for the use of toilet facilities. For years, Doune Primary School has allowed the sports club to use its toilets on match days, in exchange for access to the cricket ground for pupils. But in August 2024, Stirling Council ended the long-standing agreement that had never been formalised. Now, cricket club members are hoping a solution can be reached before the season starts in two weeks.
