CrimeStoppers offers $50,000 reward for information on unsolved mass shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County is offering $50,000 to anyone with information leading to an arrest for the suspect in a mass shooting in Hickory Hill. The reward was posted more than a month after one person was killed and five others were injured in a mass shooting at an anti-violence meeting. There have still been no arrests in the case. “That $50,000 is right there,” David Wayne Brown, CrimeStoppers’ executive director, said.

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. - Friday night, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office flooded north Shelby County with deputies in an effort to cut down on crime known as a “saturation.”More than 50 deputies were sent out across the north end of the county to make traffic stops, serve warrants and respond to complaints about drug houses.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The second of three trials surrounding the death of Tyre Nichols at the hands of five Memphis police officers is almost over. "We are now going to excuse you all. Please remember deliberations have to be together as a group,” Shelby County Criminal Court Judge James Jones told the jury Tuesday. The jury spent around four hours deliberating before being dismissed for the day and is expected to resume Wednesday morning. They have 21 charges spread across three defendants to evaluate.

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Tenn. - Lauderdale County officials are warning an armed and dangerous fugitive may be hiding in the woods. Bryan Lebel is described as a skilled survivalist and outdoorsman who may have traveled into a neighboring county. U.S. Marshals are involved in the search. Multiple West Tennessee law enforcement agencies shared warnings about Lebel with some stating he may be hiding along the nearby Hatchie River. Those warnings didn’t stop fishermen from getting out on the river, though.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A high-speed police chase across the city ended with a dramatic crash in Central Gardens Tuesday evening. A stolen car hit a MATA van, sending it flipping through the air. FOX13 pulled a half-dozen police reports to find out more about the crash and the alleged string of crimes that led up to it. MPD reports the three teen suspects involved in the crash had a busy week. They allegedly stole a car on Saturday, robbed some stores Monday and led police officers on a chase Tuesday.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis City Council is considering fining the owners of abandoned and dilapidated homes. Memphis Police (MPD) announced the arrest of two men on gun and drug charges after they were spotted at an abandoned house in North Memphis. It’s not the first time a vacant building has been linked to crime, but the city council wants it to be the last. A proposed ordinance would make the owners of abandoned and dilapidated houses pay $300 every year until they get the place fixed up.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Police Association is raising concerns about a shortage of officers following recent violence. “We have seen far too much violence in our city,” Mayor Paul Young said Friday. “It’s been completely unacceptable. Heartbreaking to see young people losing their lives senselessly.”Last week saw a shocking amount of violent incidents. More than three dozen shootings were reported across Memphis, leaving more than a dozen dead.
