Right now, there is just a stop sign controlling all four directions of traffic, but this intersection is extremely busy. High school students at VUSD now using new bus ridership program

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News)—High schools in the Vail Unified School District are back in session, which means the district’s new student ridership system for bus riders will start. For years, the district had manually tracked students who got on and off the bus, but that would be slow and unreliable. Every student who rides the bus will be given a lanyard and an RFID that they’ll scan. This will help get more kids on and off the bus and give parents peace of mind knowing where their kids are.

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A new study at the University of Arizona is proving that veterans with service dogs have fewer PTSD symptoms and a higher quality of life. While this has always been believed, there has been a lack of research on using service dogs in medical care. According to the National Library of Medicine, more than 20% of veterans experience PTSD in their lifetime, and suicide and thoughts of suicide are also closely linked to PTSD.
Phase 2A of the Tangerine Road improvement project is underway

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News)—The second part of the Tangerine Road Improvement Project has started in Marana. This comes after phase one from La Canada to Twin Peaks just wrapped up. This part of theproject, 2A, will take about two years to complete. It will start from I-10 and go east just past Tangerine Business Loop. Construction crews are digging a trench on the south side of Tangerine to bury utilities that they need.
$10,000 grant on the way to United Way to help opportunity youth

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News)—The United Way of Southern Arizona is receiving more money to help people struggling to find work or school. The $10,000 grant is from U.S. Bank for people between 16 and 24. United Way says this will help those young adults by providing education, training, employment and other support to get people working or back to school. Leaders add that the money is already at United Way and they’ll start using it as soon as July 1st.
Local musicians ready to hold PACC benefit show

This comes as the shelter holds late-night adoption events throughout June to get some of its animals into forever homes. The first one, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, is only for registered nurses in Arizona. This program allows them to return to finish their Bachelor of Science in nursing, which can help them get advanced positions at hospitals.
