If being a convicted felon doesn’t bar you from becoming the leader of the free world, it absolutely in no circumstance should cost you your right to vote. Less than a month ago, Donald Trump became the first current or former US president to be convicted of a felony offense. In fact, he was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records to influence the 2016 Presidential election– all of which had to be unanimously agreed upon by a jury of his peers to lead to conviction.

Mt. SAC student government demands action following Israel’s attack in Rafah The Associated Student Senate passed a unanimous resolution demanding Mt. SAC to call for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, as well as a resolution for the campus to divest from companies profiting off “unethical” business practices. The meeting began at 3 p. m.

A small group of students and parents from the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District held a protest to stop school closures before the district’s last board meeting of the school year on Thursday, May 9. The gathering of 14 protesters initially set up their rally at Steinmetz Park in Hacienda Heights where they expressed discontent with the district’s school reconfiguration decision last fall.

On Tuesday, Apr. 30, Mt. SAC Associated Student Senate passed a unanimous resolution to remove the “Mountie” moniker. This decision is building upon the board of trustees’ prior decision to remove the “Joe Mountie” mascot, while retaining the controversial moniker. The resolution was brought to the senate by student trustee César Alvarado, AS President Dani Silva, Senate Chair Mariah Moreno and cross-cultural Senator Logan Wells.

La Puente became the latest of more than 30 California cities to pass a resolution calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas on Tuesday, April 9. The resolution was brought forward by city councilman David Argudo, and seconded by Mayor Gabriel Quinones after weeks of community input.
