MOAB — A man was taken into custody in Moab Thursday after police said he drove recklessly, hit another car head-on and then fled the scene. A probable cause statement for the incident said a 911 caller saw a black Ram 3500 doing donuts in a gas station parking lot on Main Street, “nearly hitting multiple other vehicles,” at approximately 9:30 p.m.According to the statement, the caller followed the truck to another gas station to try and get the plates and tell police.

PAROWAN — A man broke his ankle and had to be airlifted out of a remote area in Iron County Thursday. His family was also helped by rescuers. Parowan Police Lt. Eamonn Taylor said they received reports of a traumatic injury near the Vermillion Castle trail east of Parowan. “(The 911 caller) and her siblings and her father were hiking off trail, kind of doing some light bouldering on some rock faces back there,” Taylor said.

CEDAR CITY — A Canyon View Middle School student was in critical condition after authorities believe she was hit by two vehicles while walking on Interstate 15 in Cedar City. Lt. Cam Roden with Utah Highway Patrol said the accident happened at 8:38 a.m. Friday near exit 59. On Friday afternoon, Shauna Lund, communications director and foundation coordinator for the Iron County School District, confirmed the girl was a student at Canyon View Middle School.
