    Historic Ithaca is hosting its yearly Memorial Day cleanup at the Ithaca City Cemetery May 26. The non-profit and additional volunteers will clear branches, trim trees and clean selected grave stones. The Groton American Legion post 800 will host Memorial Day services at 12 cemeteries surrounding the village starting at 9 a.m. on May 26 at Graves Memorial Cemetery. The Newfield Historical Society is hosting a Memorial Day Service at Woodlawn Cemetery at 10 a.m. on May 26.

    On June 19, athletes and coaches will travel to Ithaca from throughout the state, coming together for an opening ceremony at Ithaca College, beginning at 7 p.m.On May 14 at Ithaca College, Special Olympics New York volunteers announced its Summer Games and recruited volunteers for the event. Special Olympics needs hundreds of volunteers to take photos, keep score, assist with parking and otherwise set up the event.
