Palmyra-Macedon senior Luke VanGorden and Williamson/Marion/Sodus junior Zachary Kuelling each reached the state championship semifinals during the 2024-25 boys wrestling season. Both of these stellar wrestlers earned first- team honors in this year’s Finger Lakes East all-league selections after terrific seasons. Pal-Mac had three wrestlers earn first-team. VanGorden made it at the 190-pound weight class alongside fellow 190-pounder Wayne Central senior Avery Bustamante.

SENECA FALLS — A brand-new season of Finger Lakes girls lacrosse officially started Thursday with a slate of three games. The combined program between Mynderse Academy and Romulus was one of the teams in action to kick things off. The Mynderse/Romulus Blue Devils lost to the Aquinas Institute Li’l Irish in last year’s Section V quarterfinals. This year, Aquinas is combined with World of Inquiry School as the two sides met Thursday evening to start this 2025 season.

The Lyons Lions girls basketball team dominated its way to an undefeated season in Wayne County league action. And the Lions were the last team left standing for the league when it came to postseason time. Lyons (21-3, 14-0) won 13 of its 14 games in Wayne County competition this season by double figures with the one exception being a hard-fought 47-42 victory over Williamson/Marion on the road in Marion back on Jan. 29.
