LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Police say two people were taken to the hospital early Friday morning after crash in southeast Lincoln. LPD said it happened around 5:45 a.m. near S. 56th and Stockwell Streets. Police said a car and a garbage truck collided. The driver of the car and a 1-year-old child were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. According to a Channel 8 reporter at the scene, the car had major damage to its front-end. LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two people are dead and a teenager is in critical condition after a shooting Wednesday in central Lincoln, police say. LPD said it happened around 12:10 a.m. at an apartment complex near 22nd and G streets. When officers arrived on scene they found a man and a woman both dead with gunshot wounds. LPD said a teenage boy was taken to the hospital and is now in surgery. Two other children were found at the apartment, LPD said.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide at a central Lincoln apartment complex Wednesday morning. Around 12:10 a.m., a 13-year-old boy called 911 to report that he and his 40-year-old mother had been shot at an apartment complex near 22nd and G streets. When officers arrived, they found a 44-year-old Lincoln man who had appeared to have shot himself, according to Police Chief Michon Morrow.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Public Schools announced a district-wide closure for Wednesday due to winter weather. LPS said all classes are canceled and buildings are closed for Wednesday. There will be limited high school practices after 3 p.m.“LPS knows that school closures can cause hardships for families, and for that reason LPS tries to remain open during inclement weather whenever possible,” LPS said in a statement on Wednesday.

Several teams across the state are getting ready to open the postseason on Friday. That includes the Lincoln Christian Crusaders who have to travel all the way to Chadron for their opening round game. The Crusaders began the more than 400-mile trek on Thursday. LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in south Lincoln. The Lincoln Police Department said it happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday near 40th Street and Old Cheney Road. Officers discovered that a home on 38th Street was struck by nine bullets, according to LPD. Police said no one was injured. Later Thursday morning, one of the owners of the house was cleaning up damage from his door, which was hit by one of the bullets. He said he never expected it to happen.

Nebraska regents approve alcohol sales at Husker football, volleyball games

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — You’ll be able to enjoy an ice-cold adult beverage while watching a Husker sporting event, starting next year. The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the sale of alcohol at all Nebraska sporting events, starting the fall of 2025. This includes football games at Memorial Stadium and volleyball games at the Bob Devaney Center. Alcohol sales were already permitted at Nebraska basketball, baseball and softball games.
