(WJFW) – Grace Lodge here in Rhinelander held a pre-Mother’s Day Tea Party on Sunday afternoon that allowed Mothers, grandmothers, daughters and nieces a chance to celebrate with an age-old tradition. “This year is our first annual tea party to celebrate mothers…just to celebrate women in general – we are all caregivers by nature,” said Becky Kettler, the activity director at Grace Lodge. “So, just to get together. Rhinelander Area Food Pantry celebrates 20th anniversary

RHINELANDER, Wis. (WJFW) – Donors and Sponsors of the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry were at the Pines Event Center on Saturday to celebrate and raise funds for the pantry’s 20th anniversary. It was complete with a lunch, silent auctions and raffles, the proceeds of which will go toward helping the pantry.

The goal of the day is to teach kids and families about eating healthy and staying active. “Every Spring – it’s usually late April – there is a nationwide celebration of making sure that we are investing in our kids in our communities to keep them strong and healthy,” Mission Advancement Director for YMCA of the Northwoods, Abbie Cline, said.
Antigo resident reflects on running in Boston Marathon

ANTIGO, Wis. (WJFW) – Many people struggle to train for even one marathon. But running multiple marathons before the age of 20? That’s nothing if you talk to 20-year-old Antigo native, Logan Higgins, who just returned home after running the 129th Boston Marathon on Monday. He finished in two hours, 48 minutes and 40 seconds. “My time in Boston…it’s beautiful,” Higgins said.
More Hands-Off demonstrations held in Rhinelander

RHINELANDER, Wis. (WJFW) – Protestors gathered at Pioneer Park and Oneida Avenue in Rhinelander on Saturday to hold another "Hands Off" demonstration against the policies of the Trump administration. The protest is the second of it's kind in Rhinelander in recent weeks, with the first being held outside the Oneida County Courthouse on April 5. “Hands off the things that are being taken away from us," Pat O’Grady, who organized the first Rhinelander gathering, said on April 5.
Family of missing LDF woman speaks out

LAC DU FLAMBEAU, Wis. (WJFW) – As the search continues for missing 37-year-old Lac du Flambeau woman Melissa Beson, her family is now speaking out in an effort to hopefully find her. Beson was last seen March 17on Indian Village Road in Lac du Flambeau, right near the home she shares with her family. Authorities have searched for clues between surveillance footage, social media, friends, bank statements and more.
Never Forgotten Honor Flight sendoff held in Wausau

WAUSAU, Wis. (WJFW) – A send-off dinner was held in Wausau earlier this evening for the Never Forgotten Honor Flight this week. “You need that opening to heal…and healing is what the Honor Flight does,” said Vietnam War Veteran Gary Koch, who spent over 40 years in the service. Koch lost three of his men while he was on Rest and Recuperation and experienced survivor’s guilt and nightmares for years. The Honor Flight tried multiple times to get him to come down to DC for the experience.
World's Largest Trivia Contest held at UWSP's 90FM

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WJFW) – The World’s Largest Trivia Contest is back at UWSP’s 90FM this weekend. The 54-hour trivia marathon asks 8 questions per hour and teams from all over the world have the length of two songs playing on the radio to submit their answers. “’Trivia 55: No Limit.’ And it is what the name is…it’s the world’s largest Trivia Contest,” station manager Derek Tritz said.
Exploratory copper and gold drilling coming to Taylor County

RHINELANDER, Wis. (WJFW) – There have been no active sulfide mines in Wisconsin for decades. But a mining moratorium was repealed by Governor Scott Walker in 2017. Since then, there has been some exploratory drilling, and the DNR recently approved another mineral exploration. The Canadian mining company GreenLight Metals was recently cleared for drilling in Taylor County’s Bend Deposit, which is believed to contain around 4 million tons of gold and copper.

WISCONSIN, USA (WJFW) - Protests aimed towards President Trump and Elon Musk called "Hands Off" erupted across the country today. Protesters also took to the streets of downtown Eagle River on East Wall Street and surrounding sidewalks. Protesters also fled to the front of the Rhinelander court house to picket in response to how the trump administration is handling various issues such as civil and human rights, public education, social services, immigration, the economy and much more.
