FREMONT, Wis. (WBAY) - A former firefighter from the Fox Valley is among the 144 names being honored in Maryland during this year’s National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. Events included a memorial service on Sunday morning and a candlelight vigil Saturday night. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Wisconsin firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - More than 230 people across Wisconsin right now are considered missing. On Saturday, an event was held at the Brown County Sheriff’s Office to raise awareness and give families of the missing a chance to be heard. One of the people at the event was Bill Yoblonski, whose own son, James, went missing nearly two years ago. He hopes that events like this will inspire more people to talk about their loss.

APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - The Mile of Music is set to return for the 12th time at the end of July, with the first 50 artists being announced Thursday at The 513 in downtown Appleton. The four-day event will host over 200 artists playing at 40 different venues, performing original pieces. Artists will come from all around the area and the country, ranging from returning musicians like “Scorched Waves” out of Stevens Point to Todd Carey from Sturgeon Bay, making his first appearance.

GREENVILLE, Wis. (WBAY) - The Village of Greenville and the Town of Grand Chute fire departments are working together to decrease response times. It’s all part of their new “auto aid” agreement, which allows for either department to respond to a call for service at a moment’s notice. Greenville’s fire and EMS deputy chief, Eric Kitowski, says that this will be so much better for the people who need help, especially in rural areas.
