Offices that replaced the Huntley and Palmers biscuit factory in Reading are now set to become flats. The Delta Building at 121 Kings Road was built in the 1990s as offices to replace the Huntley and Palmers factory that was demolished in the 1980s. The building is the easternmost of three blocks on the wider site. The owners London Two have recently won permission to convert it into 77 flats, providing 58 one-bed and 19 two-bed apartments.

A married couple have expressed frustrations over missed garden waste bin collections in Reading. People who want to get rid of garden waste must subscribe to a collection service provided by Reading Borough Council. A couple in the town have complained that they have experienced a number of collections have been missed ahead of a new collection schedule being introduced in June. A huge burger restaurant chain is set to relocate to The Oracle Riverside in Reading. The Oracle Riverside along the Kennet is a destination area for dining and drinking in the town centre. It is understood that burger chain Five Guys is due to relocate to the riverside in the near future, taking over the unit vacated by the All Bar One cocktail bar, which closed in May. The unit has a capacity of 170 covers, incorporating a ground floor and a basement area.

Offices in Reading town centre are set to be converted into nearly 100 flats now plans have been approved. The Abbey Gardens office complex stands seven storeys tall along Kings Road in the town centre. It is in an ideal location to the rear of the Abbey Ruins, with the train station being less than a 10-minute walk away. Now, the office complex is due to be converted into 92 apartments, made up of 84 one-bed and eight two-bed flats.

A contentious plan for new homes on a sizeable unused garden in Caversham has been decided. Hicks Homes applied to build a four bed house and three three-bedroom homes on unused garden land between Atterbury Gardens and RichmondRoad in Caversham Heights. A decision on the project was made by Reading Borough Council’s planning applications committee, as the project received 19 objections.
