Pat Moodie isn’t one to shy from a challenge. A meticulous person, she takes her time to share what goes into every sculpture she creates. She points to a red-tailed hawk sculpture sitting atop a log in her living room. With its wings spread wide and eyes bright, it’s as if the large bird were about to take flight. It’s only on second glance you realize the feathers aren’t real. They’re plastic.

HINSDALE — As the Winchester School District prepares to finalize a high school tuition agreement with the Hinsdale School District, several Hinsdale students say they’re eager to welcome Winchester to their community. The Winchester district is looking to send its students to Hinsdale High after its tuition agreement with the Keene district expires at the end of the 2026-27 school year. Last February, Keene announced it would not renew the agreement.

After two years in business, Muse Bistro in Keene is closing its doors. In a Facebook post Monday afternoon, the eatery announced a new restaurant will take its place at 44 Main St. in the early summer months. Adam Berube said via text Wednesday morning he received an offer to sell the business, although the sale wasn't final yet.

In the wake of proposed spending cuts that will eliminate about two dozen jobs at the Jaffrey-Rindge school district, one of its unions says it is working with administrators to find "creative solutions that minimize staff reductions and lessen the impact of these cuts on students." The Jaffrey-Rindge Education Association represents more than 100 teachers, guidance counselors, specialists and nurses employed in the district. The district also has the Jaffrey-Rindge Support Staff Association.

There's a new breakfast spot in Keene. Yellow Bell Cafe at the former location of Yahso Jamaican Grille opened its doors earlier this month. And it's been well-received, according to owner Adam Berube. "We've already sold 25 pastries, and we've been open an hour," Berube said in an interview last week. Yellow Bell offers a mix of traditional breakfast food with brunch and lunch options, all using fresh ingredients. The cafe at 45 Main St. also has a robust drink menu.

A local coalition will host a follow-up event about bullying prevention and building a supportive community in Keene later this month. The Monadnock Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Coalition, along with its partners the Monadnock Food Co-op and Keene Family YMCA, plans to hold the discussion on Saturday, March 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Norma Walker Hall in Keene State College's Alumni Building on Main Street.

WESTMORELAND — Town residents approved a $4.4 million school district budget following questions about special education tuition and enrollment during the Westmoreland School District’s annual meeting Friday evening. Voters also greenlit by voice vote the renewal of the district's enrollment agreement with the Keene district. The session at Westmoreland School drew about 35 people and lasted roughly an hour.

WALPOLE — Town residents want more local control within the Fall Mountain Regional School District, and they're deeply unsatisfied with it. And soon they'll learn if it's possible for the town to leave it. Voters approved a measure by secret ballot, 134-21, at Walpole's annual town meeting Saturday to direct Fall Mountain to study the feasibility of Walpole leaving the district.
