Costa Coffee has reopened its Broughty Ferry cafe after a refurbishment of the premises. The Brook Street chain closed its doors earlier this month to undergo a “transformative renovation”. Following a full refurbishment, the store reopened to customers on Thursday. It now features a refreshed counter design, new furniture and updated flooring. A 50-year-old man has been charged after a “wilful” blaze at a flat in Dundee. Thick plumes of smoke were seen pouring from a flat on Strathmartine Road in the Hilltown area on Wednesday night. Residents raised the alarm shortly after 11pm, prompting a significant emergency service response. Speaking to The Courier, one man said he heard shouts of “fire, fire, fire” echoing through the building to alert other residents.

A partially sighted Dundee FC fan says he felt “humiliated” after being told he needed more proof he was disabled when renewing his season ticket. Willie Tanner, 68, visited the club shop on Wednesday to secure a cheaper ‘early bird’ offer ahead of next season. The Broughty Ferry man says he got into a dispute with a staff member when he was asked to provide proof he was registered blind – despite having no issues last season.

A St Andrews social club has gone up for sale after the decision to close the venue down. St Andrews United FC notified members last summer of its intention to shut the social club after more than 40 years. The club blamed rising operational costs for the decision. An email said the club would close on September 30. The Langlands Road site is now on the market with a half-million-pound price tag. The sale includes the main club building along with its grounds and car park.

More than 3,000 people are expected to take part in next month’s Orange walk in Kirkcaldy. Residents and drivers are being warned of disruption as the parade makes its way through the town centre. Fife Council says the County Grand Orange Lodge of the East of Scotland event will take place on Saturday June 28. The procession will begin at Beveridge Park, involving around 3,500 marchers, and follow a circular route through the centre of the town.
