    During Tuesday night's Glendive City Council meeting, Mayor Deb Dion proposed changes to hours, program structures and fees to address the Glendive Recreation Department's financial challenges; however, the resignation of both of the department's employees prompted the city to announce the indefinite closure of the recreation center Wednesday as officials work to regroup.

    The activities fund at Dawson County High School ended in a deficit last year, albeit a smaller one than the previous year. However, the trend of ending the school year in the red is unsustainable, according to DCHS Activities Director Wade Murphy. Murphy first brought the deficit to the Glendive Unified School Board’s attention last year, prompting several measures to mitigate the shortfall, including raising gate ticket and activity pass prices and cutting down on unnecessary overnight travel.
