District officials say the referendum will seek funding for increased operating costs and to maintain a competitive salary for staff. At each meeting, district officials will give a presentation outlining the referendum initiative. The public is invited to attend and will have the opportunity to ask questions.

DELAWARE - A police chase in a reported stolen car started in Camden and ended in New Castle County with an officer-involved shooting. Delaware State Police say they tried to stop a car near the Camden Walmart around 9 p.m. Friday, but it did not stop. They say the chase was called off in Dover for safety reasons. Troopers say the car was spotted a short time later and another high-speed chase began.

MAARYLAND- The Maryland State Fire Marshal says a troubling social media trend is spreading through Maryland schools. Authorities say there have been multiple instances recently of what's being called the "Chromebook Challenge." They say students are putting pencils and other metallic objects into the charging ports of electronic devices. Its lead to sparks, smoke, and even fires, according to the fire marshal's office, prompting emergency evacuations and disciplinary actions at schools.

WALLOPS ISLAND, VA - Precision sounding rockets are scheduled to lift off from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. Officials say the launch window is from May 11-18. They say the launch will not be livestreamed, and updates will not be given during the countdown. The rocket launch may be seen from the Chesapeake Bay region, according to NASA.

LINCOLN, DE– More than a dozen fire companies responded to a fire in Lincoln Monday afternoon. The fire was reported in the 18000 block of Johnson Road shortly before 2 p.m. A large column of smoke was visible from the surrounding area. Carlisle Fire Company crews were reportedly the first on scene, arriving to find two storage structures and two vehicles burning. The Fire Marshal says the flames then spread to a home on the property as additional crews and emergency medical services responded.

OCEAN CITY, MD- Ocean City is bidding a fond farewell to a K-9 who served the resort town for seven years. The department announced K-9 Smoke is retiring from the force. He served as a dual-purpose patrol and narcotics alongside his partner, PFC Erika Rhode. The Belgian Malinois came from the Netherlands in 2018 and was deployed more than 370 times. Smoke was apart of 278 vehicle scans, 49 building searches, 21 tactical deployments, 27 arrests, 8 weapons seizures, and helped seize $5,390.

MILLSBORO, DE- There is a new medic station in Sussex County to help serve a growing community. County officials held a ribbon-cutting on Monday to celebrate the grand opening of the new Medic 103 Station on Dickerson Road in Millsboro. Paramedic crews from the station will serve the Millsboro, Dagsboro, and Frankford areas. The facility opened earlier this year, and officials say they are already seeing an improvement in response times.

CLAYTON, DE- A Former Clayton Police Chief has taken a plea deal in connection to a drunk driving incident. Prosecutors say Carl Hutson pled guilty to Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and entered the "First Offender's Program." As part of the program, he will have his license suspended for one year, pay a $250 fine, complete a DUI course, and use an ignition interlock device once he begins driving again.

MILFORD, DE- A man's body was found after a large fire near Milford. The Delaware State Fire Marshal says the fire was burning out of control into the woods behind a home on Big Stone Beach Rd. around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. The Delaware Division of Forensic Science is working to determine the cause of death and identify the victim. Foul play is not suspected. Damage is estimated at $250. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
