WEST HARTFORD — A 22-year-old Cromwell man was charged Saturday after police allege he struck a pedestrian with his car in an early morning crash on South Main Street and then fled the scene, police said. Juan Pablo Novoa was charged with evading responsibility after causing serious physical injury in a motor vehicle accident, tampering with evidence and windshield obstruction, according to West Hartford police Capt. Aaron Vafiades.

WATERBURY - A vehicle struck a 14-year-old who ran into the street to retrieve an item on Pearl Lake Road Friday, but the child made it away with non-life-threatening injuries, according to city police. Waterbury Police Lt. Ryan Bessette said the collision took place at about 6:20 p.m. Friday, and the driver remained on scene. He said the child was taken to a local hospital and is considered to be in stable condition. The driver was not injured, according to police.

WILLIMANTIC - Police arrested an 18-year-old Coventry resident this week on a series ofreckless driving chargesafter he nearly struck a state trooper prior to a car chase earlier this year. The suspect, Matthew Wall, had blown by a crash scene in his pickup truck on Route 89 in Ashford in March before escaping in a chase that reached up to 98 miles per hour on Interstate 84, according to a state police arrest warrant affidavit.
