Baytown youth track stars going to state meet

The City of Baytown’s Youth Summer Track Program is sending 21 athletes to Brownsville next week for the Texas Amateur Athletic Foundation State Summer Games. The games will take place from Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28. Bellamy Brothers bringing hits to Baytown

The love will be flowing in Baytown on July 3rd courtesy of The Bellamy Brothers, who are headlining night one of the City’s two-day Independence Day Celebration. David and his brother Howard have been active musicians since 1968, but several songs like “Let Your Love Flow” made the duo popular worldwide in the 1970’s. Now, 56 years later, the guys are still having fun.

Emergency manhole repairs near I-10 and Thompson ongoing

Emergency manhole repairs continue near I-10 and Thompson Road. Texas Pride Utilities, the company contracted to work with the City on repairs, has re-established a foundation at the base of the manhole. Crews will be replacing the top, or cone, of the manhole before finishing backfill work to protect the roadway. The I-10 service road remains safe and the size of the cave-in has not changed. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by Monday, June 24.

Youth Track Meet coming to Baytown

More than 500 athletes will be lacing up their shoes for a major youth track meet at Lee High School. On Thursday, June 6 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., competitors from Beaumont, Conroe, Pasadena and other cities will be coming to Baytown to show off their running skills. Two hundred of those athletes are from Baytown as part of the summer track program.
