RANDALL’S ISLAND, N.Y. – As the outdoor track season draws to an end, Staten Island’s Catholic high school teams really seem to be hitting their stride. St. Joseph by-the-Sea, already a two-time defending NY sectional team champion, waltzed away from the competition with 77 points, followed by Notre Dame (55) and Notre Dame Manhattan (45). “We competed today with a chip on our shoulder after losing indoor sectionals by seven points,” commented Sea coach Chris Mancusi.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Some of the top Island high schoolers did battle against some of the powerhouses of the Northeast last weekend at the 57th Glenn D. Loucks Games held at White Plain High School. Individually, Notre Dame’s Katelyn Kliesch ran a season-best in the 800-meters of 2 minutes, 10.22 seconds; currently No. 2 in the CHSAA behind Notre Dame Manhattan’s Maggie McCabe (2:09.55). Kliesch already owns the Island record in the event, running 2:08.89 as a freshman at this meet in 2023.
