LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - The Hub City Humane Society has launched a fund aimed at reducing the number of animals abandoned in the area. Shelter director Tamara Huff told WDAM 7 that the fund was inspired by a puppy found abandoned earlier this month in Lamar County. LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - Five state legislators were in Laurel Thursday discussing this year’s 2025 legislative session. First on the list was House Bill 1, set to eventually cut out the state’s income tax over a four-year period. The bill would also lower the state’s grocery tax while raising the gasoline tax. Rep. Omeria Scott (D-District 80) believed the bill could have waited until leaders found alternative funding.
