Before this trip, I’d been to Windsor Essex twice. Once in 2005 for a friends wedding in Leamington and in 2024 for a cottage weekend that included kayaking in Point Pelee and Lake Erie. It was time for me to spend more time here since there’s so much happening. If you’re asking “Jay, what’s there to do in Windsor Essex?” my answer is simply; there’s adventure aplenty here between the excellent outdoor adventures and thriving food and drink scene.

At the corner of Eglinton Avenue and Creditview Road there is a utility box with images on it, courtesy of a public art program through the Mississauga Arts Council. On this particular box there is a portrait of William Lyon Mackenzie (1795-1861). He was historically a political and social figure of renown in the early years of Canada, although he only ever briefly passed through historic Mississauga.

I stayed at a Parks Canada oTENTik for the first time and here are my takeaways to help you have a great time. I’d heard of them and wanted to stay in one but the timing hadn’t aligned with my schedule until now. This was in mid-April in Point Pelee National Park as part of a weekend adventure in Ontario’s Windsor Essex region. It's a unique experience that can be classified as "glamping" as you've got running water, toilets and showers on the grounds.
