ST MARYS — The Clearfield Lady Bison were heavy underdogs when they headed north on Wednesday to face the top-ranked Class AAA team in the state according to Max Preps. Throw in the fact that St. Marys, 11-1 heading into the game, had outscored the Lady Bison 47-1 the last two seasons over the course of four games, including wins in the last two Class AAAA District 9 Finals and you have a mismatch on paper.

HUNTINGDON — Using a strong pitching performance for six out of seven innings from sophomore Alivia Nicklow, the host Lady Bearcats held off the visiting Lady Bison 7-4 on Tuesday afternoon. The win put Huntingdon at 8-5 on the season, while Clearfield dropped to 4-8, including a seven game losing streak. Putting up singletons in three out of the first four innings and with Nicklow throwing a perfect game through those four innings, it looked like the game was well in hand for Huntingdon.
