Penn State trustees approve series of board appointments

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Board of Trustees on Sept. 6 approved a variety of appointments to board committees and positions, including at-large members, Executive Committee directors and Penn State Health directors. Trustees elected four at-large members to its Executive Committee, which handles business between scheduled board meetings, including annual committee plans and agendas, outreach and oversight of University activities beyond the scope of other board committees.
Wise named chief risk officer for Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Jared Wise has been named the University’s new chief risk officer. Wise was formerly Penn State’s insurance program manager within the Office of Risk Management, a position he served in since May 2017. Wise was named to the position in July, following the departure of Bill Raab in June.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Athletics is proud to announce the return of Faculty/Staff Appreciation Days at Beaver Stadium for a pair of games on the 2024 schedule - Sept. 21 vs. Kent State and Nov. 30 vs. Maryland. Faculty, staff and their families can purchase discounted tickets in the upper South end zone and upper North end zone. Tickets for Kent State are $40 plus fees. Tickets for Maryland are $35 plus fees. Tickets for either game are available for purchase online.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, a live-learning lab for the college’s hospitality majors, is preparing to provide well over 15,000 meals for the teams who will participate in the 2024 Little League Baseball World Series. “When all 20 teams are dining with us, we prepare for 400 people per meal period – 1,200 people per day total,” explained Mike S. Dinan, the restaurant’s executive chef.
Hidden Gems: Smith Carillon Concert Series at Penn State Behrend

EIRE, Pa. – A longstanding tradition is returning to Penn State Behrend this summer as the Floyd and Juanita Smith Carillon welcomes performers from around the world to play music for the entire campus to hear. The carillon tower is one of just 166 in the United States. It includes 48 bells, ranging from a little over 6 inches wide to more than three feet, and offers a free concert each Thursday evening throughout July as part of the Smith Carillon Concert Series.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — For alumnus David Mazyck, returning to Penn State as the department head of the School of Engineering Design and Innovation (SEDI) within the College of Engineering was an appealing proposition. He’d been working for the University of Florida for 22 years, and while he enjoyed his time there, Penn State offered something he was interested in: familiar faces and a chance to give back to the community he’d learned from.
