Commissioners Make Appointments to America 250/PA 250 Clearfield County Advisory Committee

CLEARFIELD – A committee is being formed in Clearfield County to plan a celebration in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and the integral role of the Keystone State. On Tuesday, the board of commissioners announced numerous appointments to the America 250/PA 250 Clearfield County Advisory Committee that will operate under the Clearfield County Recreation & Tourism Authority/Visit Clearfield County.
Ammerman Won’t Seek Retention

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman won’t seek retention in 2025. Currently Ammerman is serving the final year of his third term on the bench, and will retire Jan. 4, 2026. He was first elected judge in 1994 and previously served as district attorney. He recently advised members of the Clearfield County Bar Association of his decision, stating it’s been a “privilege” to serve the bar and county citizens for so many years.
County OKS RFP for In-home Drug and Alcohol Services for CYS

CLEARFIELD – Addicted parents with active Children & Youth cases in Clearfield County may soon have in-home drug and alcohol services available to them. Tuesday the board of commissioners voted to approve a request for proposals to solicit D&A counseling services, as its CYS office has plans of offering a new in-home program.
Salary Board Creates 2 Adult Probation Officer Positions

CLEARFIELD – The creation of two new adult probation officer positions was approved by the Clearfield County Salary Board on Tuesday. These positions will add an ARD and institutional officer, with the court to fund both salaries through its Probation Supervision Fund. Salaries will amount to $85,000 per year for four years, with the county to cover associated health insurance costs.
Salary Board Approves 2025 Salary Increases for Non-Union Employees

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Salary Board on Tuesday voted to approve the 2025 salary increases for the non-union salaried employees to be effective Jan. 1. Most employees received a $4,200 salary increase, per Commissioner Dave Glass, noting that some did receive less such as those who were more recent hires or who only work part-time. The raises were approved with a 3-1 board vote with support coming from Glass, Commissioner Tim Winters and Controller Rob Edwards.
Winters to Lead Clearfield County Board of Commissioners in 2025

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners reorganized for 2025 on Tuesday. Commissioner Tim Winters was appointed as board chairman and Commissioner John Sobel as vice chairman. Winters will also serve as chair of the county’s Salary Board. The commissioners will keep the same schedule, meeting for workshops the first Tuesday monthly and for voting meetings the second and fourth Tuesdays monthly.
Clearfield S.D. Fills Vacant Board Seat

CLEARFIELD – A special meeting was held by the Clearfield Area School Board on Monday night, during which it filled the seat left vacant with the resignation of Greg Clarke last month. Clarke, who was also board president, submitted his letter of resignation to the board at its reorganizational meeting Dec. 9. Clarke, who had served on the board for the past seven years, expressed that it was time for the “next generation” to take his seat on the board.
Curwensville Woman Charged with Father’s Overdose Death

CURWENSVILLE – A Curwensville woman has been charged in connection with the overdose death of her father in January 2023. Sami Jo McGarry, 29, has been charged by Clearfield state police with first-degree felony drug delivery resulting in death and first-degree misdemeanor involuntary manslaughter. According to the affidavit of probable cause, state police were called to a Curwensville residence on Jan. 17, 2023 for a deceased male who was believed to have died from a drug overdose.
County Makes Numerous Board Appointments/Reappointments

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners addressed various items of business on Tuesday, including making a number of appointments/reappointments to various county boards and authorities. These included:Farmland Preservation: Susan Williams (secretary) and Jeff Wriglesworth, resident farmers; Eric Fox, at-large member; Michael Hollabaugh, township supervisor; and Henry Daugherty, contractor, were all reappointed, with their new terms to be staggered.
CCJ Medication Assisted Treatment Program Tops County Meetings

CLEARFIELD – The Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program at the Clearfield County Jail topped the meetings of both the Clearfield County Commissioners and Prison Board on Tuesday. The county had contracted with Meshach Recovery Center Inc. of Philipsburg to administer the MAT program.
