LAPEER — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Lapeer County, the Thumb region and all of southeast Michigan from 1 p.m. this afternoon until 1 a.m. Saturday. Snow accumulation between 2 and 4 inches are possible. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute.

LAPEER — Friday afternoon, a shed caught fire adjacent a home on Jessie Lee Drive in the Hunters Creek Mobile Home Community in Lapeer and extensively damaged one home and melted vinyl siding on a neighboring home. Lapeer Fire & Rescue Chief Mike Vogt said the fire, reported at 5:36 p.m., was first reported as a shed on fire. The neighbor in a home to the south of the shed was doing laundry when she heard a couple popping noises.
