    The U.S. Bureau of Land Management reports Wednesday morning that firefighters have made steady progress on the Conner Fire eight miles southeast of Gardnerville, with 84 percent containment and 17,714 acres burned. Efforts to fight the fire, which began June 20, have been ongoing, with each new day bringing more containment around the fire. On Tuesday, Gov. Joe Lombardo stopped by incident command and then toured the burn area, receiving a detailed briefing on the incident.

    The Carson City School Board took action on a handful of items Tuesday evening, approving the district’s insurance pool package, its food service agreement and changes to its wellness policy. The board was also briefed on its substitute staffing services and the district provided an update to its Measures of Academic Progress, also known as MAP. Watch the full meeting below.

    A summertime favorite for more than three decades, the 38th Run What Cha Brung car show returns to Mills Park in Carson City this Saturday, June 28. This annual classic hotrod show, with all vehicles welcome up to 2025, is presented by the Karson Kruzers car club. The show brings plenty of shady trees, all the shiny chrome and many stories from the vehicle owners who drive them. The event is free to the public to view the show.
