    Recent activity on the sun led to an array of northern lights, also known as aurora borealis, over Northern Nevada skies overnight. Carson Now reader Crystal Pacheco captured these images in the Carson City area early Sunday morning, at around 12:30 a.m.Space.com notes the northern lights in the nighttime sky is expected again Sunday into Monday though it is unknown at this time how far south it will reach. The aurora borealis is due to a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) that happened on the sun.

    The Silver Palooza Music and Art Festival will be returning to the Silver City Schoolhouse and Park June 21, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., bringing the free event of live music, art, history, and fun together for another year. This is the fifth year of the festival, which takes place at 385 High Street in Silver City (nestled in the foothills between Mound House and Virginia City). This year’s event will feature live music from a variety of genres including folk, blues, funk, pop and rock n roll.
