Sixteen teams competed in the invitational.

JEFF [email protected]–The Stewarts Creek’s softball team had their hitting shoes on Thursday Night as they pounded out 17 hits that included three triples and a long ball in a 12-3 road win over the Smyrna Bulldogs. Both teams are tied atop District 7-4A, and after games with Cookeville, will close out district play at Stewarts Creek on April 29 at 6:30 p.m.“It was just one of those nights for us,” Smyrna coach Lonnie Drayton said. “They jumped all over (Adaeze) Nwogbo.

JIM DAVISThe PCA boys soccer team picked up a district win over rival MTCS 4-2 last Thursday night. The match was moved to the indoor facility at the Siegel Soccer Complex because of bad weather. PCA jumped out in front as it controlled possession and moved the ball well.

Jeff NealMain Street FairviewThe Fairview girls’ basketball team picked up their first win of the season over the Siegel Stars at the Thanksgiving Classic 27-19 hosted by Siegel in Murfreesboro on Nov. 26. The win moved the Lady Jackets’ record to 1-3 on the young season. Fairview led wire to wire in winning forcing turnovers and hitting critical shots led by senior Maddie Brewer who scored 17. She averaged 15.5 points for the two games the team played.
