Right now, if you’re looking at Google Maps from Europe, the name of the body of water bound to the east by Florida, Cuba, and the Yucatan Peninsula, and to the west by Texas and Mexico, is listed as the Gulf of Mexico. If you try from the US, it’s the Gulf of America. After taking office, President Donald Trump ordered that the body of water be renamed as the Gulf of America from the Gulf of Mexico.

On Monday, newly sworn-in President Trump issued an executive order to pause federal approval of all offshore wind leases and permits. That means some projects off the Massachusetts coast, such as the SouthCoast wind project, could be dead in the water. Trump’s executive order came days after the Martha’s Vineyard project got its last major federal permit, a parting gift from the Biden administration.

The clock is ticking for TikTok. The Supreme Court will hear arguments today to determine whether a ban against the popular social media app restricts free speech and violates the First Amendment. ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese-based parent company, wants the nation’s highest court to block a law signed by President Biden in April that requires the app to be sold to a non-Chinese company by Jan. 19 or be banned in the United States.
