    LOCKHART, Texas (KXAN) - As the sun begins to set in Lockhart, at least once a month you can hear the faint sound of music in the downtown historic district, just off the main square. It's coming from the back patio of Load Off Fanny's. Every month, you'll find a group of veterans who are part of Soldier Songs & Voices, playing their guitars and sharing original music.     AUSTIN (KXAN) - With school out of session, many families in Central Texas are searching for affordable ways for their children to beat the heat during the summer. The City of Austin is offering the Summer Playgrounds program as a solution. It is a free, drop-in program that begins June 10 - August 2, 2024 for children 5-12 years old. The program is Monday through Friday, from 9-5 p.m. Organizers say Summer Playgrounds is aimed at encouraging healthy living, character building and teamwork.
