FENNVILLE, Mich. — Crews are expected to begin restoring gas service to thousands of customers in Allegan County starting Friday evening, officials announced in a press conference earlier in the day.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said a contractor working on a DNR-supported project within the Allegan State Game Area accidentally struck a high-pressure gas pipeline on Wednesday, causing the leak.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Protesters gathered outside the Michigan Court of Appeals in Downtown Grand Rapids Tuesday morning as judges heard arguments between Rockford Public Schools and a group calling for the ban of library books they believe to contain sexually explicit material. The group called "Parents and Taxpayers Against Pornography in Rockford Public Schools" filed a lawsuit in regard to 14 library books, which was dismissed by a Kent County judge in October 2023.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — People across Kent and Newaygo counties began cleaning up their properties Monday after damaging winds ripped through West Michigan during Sunday storms. "It sounded like movie effects, hurricane-like, just howling," said Lauren Pearson, who lives north of Lowell. Pearson had several large trees strewn across her property, but said they were unable to hear any of the trees breaking due to the volume of Sunday's winds.

NORTON SHORES, Mich. — On Thursday morning, dozens of seniors attended an exercise class while others enjoyed a meal inside the Driftwood Cafe.
There was a feeling of sadness as people learned that AgeWell Services would be closing the Wellness Center and the Driftwood Cafe at Tanglewood Park on May 22.
"We've been in this building for 17 years, and it has been such an amazing home for us," said Kris VanderStelt, Executive Director of AgeWell Services.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Wednesday afternoon in Grand Rapids, more than two dozen protesters gathered outside the Social Security Administration office at Knapp Street and East Beltline Avenue. The protesters demonstrated against the recent actions by the Trump Administration's Department of Government Efficiency and upcoming changes to the SSA.
"I turned 65 on Sunday and I just made a decision," said Kelli Conway, who said Wednesday was her first time protesting in her life.
