The fire broke out on the second floor of Parkway home off Rochelle Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, June 16. Firefighters contained it there, knocking down the main body barely 20 minutes before they began. The fire was declared under control around 8:40 p.m. No injuries were reported. Fire officials are investigating the cause. Mutual aid was provided at the scene and in coverage by firefighters from Elmwood Park, Hackensack, Lodi, Maywood, Paramus and Saddle Brook.

Franklin Lakes officers responding to a call found the Rhode Island woman driving at a slow speed in the right lane of southbound Route 287 just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16, Capt. Robert Grassi said. They stopped her near milepost 58, the captain said. The driver told police she'd gotten lost and then got a flat, he said. A computer check found that she has a suspended license and that the car's registration had expired.

The 30-year-old victim was leaving the Sylvan Avenue (Route 9W) facility shortly after 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, when Harshkuma H. Patel, 29, of Piscataway, approached her in the parking lot, the prosecutor said. The accused assailant, who 'd previously been seen in the area, tapped on the woman's car window in the CNBC parking lot, sources said. The victim, who didn't know Patel, opened the window, and he reached in with a knife, one of them told Daily Voice.

Initial details were scarce other than that both were found in a vehicle at a lot between two residences that's used for private parking on 13th Street between Bergenline and New York Avenues shortly before 6:30 p.m. June 16. One of them was pronounced dead at the scene, responders said. The other was hospitalized, they said. It wasn't immediately certain whether or not drugs were involved, responders said.
