The victim was struck on the eastbound highway near Madison Avenue in Paterson shortly before 10:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16, NJ State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. ALS/BLS took him to the trauma unit at nearby St. Joseph's University Medical Center with a leg injury, the sergeant said. What the man was doing outside of a car on the interstate in that area wasn't immediately clear.

The woman told police she voluntarily got into a white vehicle after the stranger approached her around 7 a.m. Sunday, June 2, Daily Voice originally reported on June 6. The driver then headed to the area of Eighth and dead-ended Division Street by the Roberto Clemente Sports Complex in the shadow of the New Jersey Turnpike overpass, she said.

Lamor Whitehead of Paramus must serve a mandatory 7½ years following his conviction by a jury in lower Manhattan in March for swindling the life savings from a parishioners mother, among other crimes. The fire broke out on the second floor of Parkway home off Rochelle Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, June 16. Firefighters contained it there, knocking down the main body barely 20 minutes before they began. The fire was declared under control around 8:40 p.m. No injuries were reported. Fire officials are investigating the cause. Mutual aid was provided at the scene and in coverage by firefighters from Elmwood Park, Hackensack, Lodi, Maywood, Paramus and Saddle Brook.

Franklin Lakes officers responding to a call found the Rhode Island woman driving at a slow speed in the right lane of southbound Route 287 just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16, Capt. Robert Grassi said. They stopped her near milepost 58, the captain said. The driver told police she'd gotten lost and then got a flat, he said. A computer check found that she has a suspended license and that the car's registration had expired.
