IRON MOUNTAIN – With their skill, athleticism, doggedness and hunger, the Iron Mountain Mountaineers are certainly going to produce some blowout victories in 2024-25. So far, they’re 2-for-2. The Mountaineers pounced on Manistique right from the opening tip, taking a 20-0 lead just 3 1/2 minutes into the game, and went on to record their second consecutive rout, this one an 82-26 victory over the Emeralds in a West Pac Conference game Monday night at Mountaineer Gym.

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Iron Mountain football team’s matchup with Manistique Friday night in the Division 8 Semifinal No. 113 was an oddity, historically speaking. The UPSSA Division 1-3 third-ranked Mountaineers took the field on a crisp and cold evening at Mountaineer Stadium with the Emeralds as their opponent for the third time in the 2024 campaign. Unofficially, Iron Mountain has never faced the same team three times in one season. While the matchup was unusual, the result was not.

It was Senior Night as the six Kingsford seniors – Nash, Anna Bortolini, Alyssa Larson, Jenna Viau, Kailey Sundquist and Maddy Kreider – were all set to walk with their parents and be recognized for their massive contributions to the Flivver volleyball program the last three-plus seasons....
