JEFFERSON - The Crooked Road Ramblers will be on the stage for the 580 WKSK Live Old Time and Bluegrass Show at the Ashe Civic Center on Saturday, May 17 about 11 a.m. for an hour or so. Tom Hartman will host the free performance on The Farm radio station. The Crooked Road Ramblers, from Southwest Virginia, include: Kilby Spencer (fiddle), Kelley Breiding (banjo), John Perry (guitar), Kyle Dean Smith (guitar), Steve Lewis (mandolin/banjo) and Susan Trianosky (bass).

BOONE - The Boone Saloon (489 W King St.) will host live entertainment this weekend, with Drew Foust & The Wheelhouse taking the stage on Friday, May 16, starting at 8 p.m. and Joslyn & The Sweet Compression performing on Saturday, May 17 (2:30 p.m.). Both bands are scheduled to play at the 4th annual Boonerang Music & Arts Festival next month in Downtown Boone. Drew Foust's a blues musician, and his group has a "signature southern soul n' roll sound," according to drewfoustmusic.com.

By JERRY SNOW The Boone Junior Appalachian Musicians will hold their 2025 Spring Recital on Tuesday, May 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Appalachian Theatre of the High Country (559 W King St.). Boone JAM, which was founded in 2004, is a music lesson program for ages 8 and up; classed are held at the Jones House Cultural Center.

JEFFERSON - The fifth gathering of Coolest Corner Ashe Bash will begin at 6 p.m. on June 7 with another doubleheader of established performers at the Ashe County Governmet Complet (150 Government Cir.). Darin & Brooke Aldridge will take the stage first, followed by Scythian, which performed at the 2024 Ashe Bash. The A.C. Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the free, family-friendly concert, and invites regional residents to attend. Food vendors will be on site.
