Bradenton’s affordable housing market is getting a boost this month with the opening of Astoria on 9th, a new $37.4 million apartment community for seniors. Developed by Housing Trust Group in partnership with AM Affordable Housing, a nonprofit founded by NBA Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning, the project will bring 120 affordable one- and two-bedroom apartments meant to cater to older residents upon opening on May 27.

Manatee County received $252.7 million in federal disaster recovery funds for Hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton. The funds will be used for housing repair, infrastructure restoration, and resilience projects. The plan includes $130 million for infrastructure, $75.56 million for homeowner recovery, and $20 million for affordable rental housing rehabilitation. There is a 30-day public comment period before the plan is submitted to HUD.
