A Queensland IVF patient who had to cancel her embryo transfer because it did not comply with new legislation has been told she can go ahead with her treatment. The mother of one, who's in her late thirties, had used a donor from the US sperm bank Xytex for her first child, and to fertilise her frozen embryo.

Brisbane's Story Bridge may go back to being a toll bridge if a funding deal can't be made to restore it, the city council says. An independent committee found the 85-year-old bridge would be unable to carry traffic within 20 years without a full restoration, at a cost which would be "beyond council". To fund that, the committee suggested a toll like the Sydney Harbour Bridge, joint council, state and federal government contributions, or an annual rates levy and corporate sponsorship.

Influencer baker Brooke Bellamy has been dropped as an ambassador for a federally funded program to teach girls to "think like an entrepreneur" after cookbook author Nagi Maehashi accused her of plagiarism. Maehashi alleged Bellamy's cookbook plagiarised two of her recipes, which Bellamy has denied.

Queensland's health minister says Monash IVF is being monitored after the wrong embryo was transferred to a patient at a Brisbane clinic. The national fertility provider discovered the mistake in February this year after the birth parents asked to transfer their remaining frozen embryos to another provider. The ABC understands the baby, who has no genetic link to the woman who gave birth to them, was conceived in early 2023.
