The Warwick Police Department and the Warwick Valley Central School District are once again collaborating this summer to host the WPD’s Junior Police Academy. Led by the WPD’s School Resource Officers, students will learn about different aspects of police work, including: K-9 demonstrations, self-defense, CPR, fire safety, fingerprinting, visits to Orange County 911 and Crime Analysis Centers, plus interesting guest lecturers and fun field trips.

They came to attend the Planning Board’s Public Hearing on Quarry Management’s latest proposal for its US Rt. 6 site. When Quarry Management proposed an amended site plan, lot consolidation and zoning changes at the March 12 Planning Board meeting, it was met with a barrage of tough questions from the Planning Board.

WEST TRENTON, N.J. (April 23) – Paddlers of all ages and experience levels are invited to register for the 30th Delaware River Sojourn taking place June 14-20. The Sojourn is a guided paddling and camping trip, combining on-water experiences and educational learning opportunities. Rental equipment is provided, and river guides teach basic instruction and help keep paddlers safe while on the water. Participants may sign up for the entire trip or for the day(s) of their choice.

A year has passed since the Warwick Democrats lost Terry Anderson, a stalwart member of our committee and an accomplished journalist for the Associated Press. Terry spent six and a half years as a hostage in Lebanon after being abducted off the streets of Beirut. After his release, Terry said he forgave his captors and went on to teach journalism to graduate students and to write a best-selling memoir of his experience as a hostage.
