SALT LAKE CITY — A driver is in custody after allegedly hitting a car driven by a State Bureau of Investigations agent near downtown Salt Lake City on Thursday. The Utah Highway Patrol said two state agents were looking for a stolen car and found it near 1700 South State Street. According to troopers, the two agents surrounded the suspect with their vehicles. When one of the agents got out of his car, the suspect allegedly pulled forward and hit the agent’s car.

SALT LAKE CITY — Brigham City Police say they found human remains in a black trash bag near 2600 West Highway 13 Wednesday afternoon. They say a construction crew called police after locating the bag and finding hair and bones. Police confirmed the contents of the bag were human and are investigating the incident as a homicide. Police say to call the Box Elder Communications Center at (435) 856-7023 with any information that may be useful to the investigation.

SALT LAKE CITY — Brigham City Police say they found human remains in a black trash bag near 2600 West Highway 13 Wednesday afternoon. At approximately 1:58 p.m., police say they received a call for a suspicious package found on the surface. After noticing the package contained human remains, police contacted the Weber County CSI unit, searched the area and collected multiple pieces of evidence. The remains have been transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner.

SALT LAKE CITY — Four people at the center of Friday’s Amber Alert were formally charged with kidnapping on Wednesday. An Amber Alert was issued Friday night following the alleged kidnapping of a 1-year-old girl. The girl was found safe within several hours and taken into state custody. On Tuesday, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill charged Holly Smith, the mother of the baby, with first-degree felony kidnapping and two other misdemeanors.
